Vital Coat VC-3100 EH Extreme Heat is a high-solids two-component polyaspartic topcoat designed for use over epoxies, flake, and quartz floors. It is not meant to go direct to concrete. It has a fast cure time with excellent adhesion and its low viscosity allows for fast turnaround of coating projects.

Vital Coat VC-3100 is a two-component, slow curing, no odor, hybrid polyaspartic coating system designed as a decorative yet durable coating for commercial and industrial flooring. Formulated with aliphatic chemistry, VC-3100 is color stable allowing it to take UV exposure without color shifts seen with other coating systems such as epoxies. VC-3100 is a 1:1 mix ratio system with sufficient pot life to be rolled, brushed, or sprayed . It has a robust application window with ability to apply at low temperatures and high humidity.

Polyaspartics are six times stronger than epoxies which is important to consider when making the final decision for your project. If you are coating a garage floor that will have vehicle traffic and high impact use, a polyaspartic coating is going to hold up much better than an epoxy floor would. The cost difference between epoxy and polyaspartic are marginal, so most people opt for the polyaspartic. Polyaspartics are most commonly known for their flake look from vinyl paint chips that create a texture on the floor. This subtle texture makes the floor less slick and more scratch resistant. A quartz look and a solid color look can also be achieved using polyaspartics. This product can also be used indoors.

When it comes to interior spaces, the design is typically the deciding factor because both epoxy and polyaspartics work great. Polyureas and polyaspartics adhere best when the concrete surface is ground down with diamonds to strip any stains and previous coatings. This requires heavy duty, professional equipment. Grinding concrete can create a lot of dust. If the dust is not contained, it will leave a huge mess.
