Choosing A Sealer

Choosing a Sealer

Applying a protective sealer to your concrete or natural stone is Vital when it comes to maximizing the beauty and life of your surfaces. Treating your surfaces with the right sealer will help protect from:

Penetrating Sealers

A penetrating sealer goes deep into the surface of your concrete, masonry, stone, or pavers, where it reacts chemically within the pores to create a protective bond. Some types of penetrating sealers fill the pores and make material denser and less absorbent. Penetrating sealers do not leave behind a visible surface film, and most of them will not change the look or color of the surface. Penetrating sealers are an excellent choice for high-traffic areas because they do not create a slippery film on top of the surface.

Topical Coating Sealer

A topical coating sealer or surface coatings are designed to form a protective film on top of the surface being treated and not permeate deep into the pores of the substrate. This film bonds directly to the surface and serves as a barrier to repel moisture and to protect against stains, dirt, oil and other contaminating substances. Topical Sealers can provide a beautiful visual enhancement to the surfaces but may change the coefficient of friction when wet.
